About the Madison Eagle Christmas Fund
Once Upon a Time, a proud Madison tradition was born. Thus, it was 40 years ago, when Madison’s Barbara Valk and her family chose to remember a mall number of lonely senior citizens at Christmas time with holiday gifts. It was then, in 1974, when Louise Easton, owner of the Madison Eagle, partnered with this kind family, and the Madison Eagle Christmas Fund was formed.
From this beginning, the fund grew over the years to involve dozens of volunteers who donated their time each Christmas season to buy, wrap and deliver gifts to Madison households in distressed circumstances. The Madison Eagle Christmas Fund has touched thousands of less fortunate Madison residents and through the holiday spirit and the generosity of many donors, businesses, civic groups, and Madison school students, the fund has been able to fill some very special wishes during the holidays.
